Denison Mines is a uranium exploration and development company.  They operate on many continents like Africa, Asia and the Americas.  Denison Mines is also in the mine decomission and environmental services business.

The projects at Denison Mines involved an IT infrastructure upgrade.  The project included:

  • Designed and implemented a centralized network topology for all offices globally using

    • VPN (IPSec and SSL VPN)
  • Negotiated SLA agreements with multiple vendors providing a variety of services
    • Data center management
    • MPLS service
    • ISP
  • Interviewed employees globally and on all levels of management to gather requirements for Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007 implementation focusing on
    • Taxonomy
    • Governance
    • Business Automation (Workflows)
  • Analyzed requirements from users ensuring requirements are complete, traceable and testable
  • Created clear high-level project overviews as well as in-detail documentation confirming all assumed requirements have been declared and accounted for (use cases, analysis models and prototypes)
  • Designed Active Directory site and OU structure
  • Trained non-technical users, in remote areas such as Africa and Mongolia, to use SharePoint by simplifying the technology for users to easily grasp and understand functionality
  • Designed disaster recovery, backup and maintenance and business continuity plan
